These come covered in blue plastic tape (to prevent scratches), so upon unpacking remove it to get shiny finish. It does make a bit of a scratching sound when the spring acts, but it has no impact on the latching action whatsoever.

They do their job well and work properly. This is the second time i buy them and the ones i installed before have been in use for a couple of years and are still working fine. They are not difficult to install, but it is a bit tricky at first. Once you install a couple of them it becomes easier, but in the beginning it can be hard to align them correctly with the door so it opens and closes properly. If you place it wrong, removing the cover without breaking it can be quite difficult.
