It came really fast and in excellent condition.
Blu-ray can be read no problem and with some tinkering it also plays 4k ones, just as advertised!
In my case, i have received a lg bp50nb40 which works really well for software compatibility.
The drive reads super fast and though it does make a bit of noise, that’s to be expected and it’s not really loud.

Drive works for makemkv. The device manager recognizes the drive as an lg bu40n and is patched perfectly to the makemkv 1.03 firmware. The drive actually feels better made than the lg bp50nb40-nb50 that died on me.

Solid build quality, standard usb micro-b port on device. The drive internals are an lg bu40n, which is compatible out-of-the-box for makemkv for dvds and blu-ray; was very easy to flash new firmware to support 4k ripping as well (following the guides on the makemkv forums). Also reads cds with no issue. Here are screenshots with the exact firmware details of what arrived, and after a successful flash. Item shipped quickly after order, and arrived with no delays or issues.

Magnificent Blu-ray reader/record player. Model LG BU40N, with firmware modifiable to 1.03MK. Good material, correct reading and recording. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with any free software. Otherwise, a 10 out of 10.

It’s an lg bu40n that came with some oddly named firmware. In any case, use sdf flasher to flash it to 1.03 and you’ll be ripping your 4ks with makemkv in no time.

The description of the recorder is correct. It arrived on time. It is BD-RE. Following the instructions, it is not Mdisc, but for that price it is very good, works perfectly, has an emergency button, and is a good purchase.
